Ubuntu on the laptop

Alright, I haven't been the best blogger in the world but here goes. I finally decided to install Ubuntu 9.10 x64 on my laptop and as always a few things took longer than expected. This time Skype gave me some troubles.

Installing
I found that installing from Medibuntu' Repository was the way to go. I installed 'skype-static-oss' by

sudo apt-get install skype-static-oss

to avoid 'problem with Audio Playback' when making voice calls. You can now run it through Pulse, I have no idea what that means but it works, by

padsp skype

Speak
Now Skype was working... except that no one was able the hear anything. Goddamn. Well, this was easy, if only I figured it out before I reinstalled Skype a couple of times, go to Volume Control (right click on volume icon) -> Prefences and make sure that Microphone, Mic Boost and Capture are checked. This three things controlls your speaker volume and are all muted as default.

Now you can enjoy Skype( again)...
